CAPA supports the case for a strong Professional Qualification

Published date: January 19, 2022

The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is excited to launch the Professional Qualification Guide. This is the fifth publication released under the Maturity Model™ in Action and the second created in conjunction with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

The Guide is endorsed by IFAC which recommends it to existing and aspiring PAOs around the world seeking to develop and strengthen their professional qualification (PQ).

CAPA believes a strong PQ embodies all the elements needed to build a strong profession to support all sectors of the economy. Therefore it is critical to design and maintain a PQ that is relevant and able to meet the needs of economies now and into the future.

There are different approaches to owning and running a PQ and this guide sets out practical guidance on how to improve an existing accountancy PQ or to implement a new one that, at a minimum, demonstrates the attributes of good practice. The principles are widely applicable, including for professional accountant and accounting technician qualifications.

Leaders of the profession are encouraged to study the publication and consider any possible next steps. Download a copy here.
