The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is proud to announce the election of its new President, Yong Sok Jhun, marking an exciting new chapter for the organisation as it strengthens its role as the collective voice of the accountancy profession across Asia and the Pacific.

Stepping into the role with a bold vision, Yong Sok Jhun outlined a renewed strategic direction centred on organisational stability, enhanced visibility and empowered regional voice on the global stage.

In his inaugural address, he expressed heartfelt appreciation to outgoing President Prafulla Chhajed for his exemplary leadership over the past two years, acknowledging the solid foundation on which CAPA will continue to grow. He affirmed his commitment to leading with purpose, collaboration and innovation.

President Yong Sok articulated a clear forward path for CAPA, emphasising the priorities to elevate the organisation’s visibility while strengthening its value proposition to members, deepen engagement with Professional Accountancy Organisations (PAOs) across the Asia Pacific region to reinforce CAPA’s voice as a significant contributor to the global profession, and accelerate organisational transformation and innovation with CAPA’s new leadership to ensure long term relevance and impact.

Emphasising on member value and regional representation, he stated:

“To be the voice of the region, CAPA must represent all of Asia and Pacific PAOs who are key players in our profession globally. As a unique regional platform, with the support of all members, I intend to strengthen communication, collaboration, and trust, while ensuring that our work delivers greater value to every member body. Together, we can build a stronger and more impactful CAPA.”

Yong Sok currently serves as the Vice President for International Affairs and as a Board Member of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA). He previously led the Audit & Assurance practice at Deloitte Korea. He is currently a Partner at Echon & Co., a member firm of Morison Global, where he continues to advance the profession through his extensive expertise. At the same meeting, Gerard Sanvictores, the current President the Philippines Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) was elected CAPA Deputy President.

Commenting on his appointment, Gerard noted,

“Given both my current roles in CAPA and ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA), I am keen to drive a deeper collaboration between the two organisations to unlock greater value for our member bodies and accelerate our shared goals for the region.”

CAPA looks forward to advancing its mission under this new leadership, strengthening partnerships and delivering greater value to the regional and global accountancy community.
