CAPA 2016 Annual Report now available

Published date: February 24, 2017

The 2016 CAPA annual report is now available on the CAPA website.

Themed ‘Powering Economic Prosperity in Asia’, the report features CAPA’s activities and achievements in the year 2016, and highlights how the accountancy profession may contribute to economic growth and prosperity in a country.

CAPA President, Jackie Poirier, reflected on CAPA’s dedicated focus on improving public sector financial management over the past few years and how this culminated to more recent efforts. “As a professional accountant working in the public sector, I am proud of CAPA’s efforts to advocate for improved accountability, transparency and financial reporting within this sector,” she expressed.

She is also very pleased with CAPA’s work in developing professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) and support from development partners which enabled CAPA to take on capacity building projects focused on continuing professional development (CPD) and quality assurance for audit. The outputs from these projects can be shared throughout the accountancy profession globally, since parts of Asia and Pacific are not the only places in need of further development. “CAPA continues to  be very appreciative of such opportunities provided by development partners, notably the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, and we offer our heartfelt thanks,” she added.

CAPA Chief Executive, Brian Blood, was also pleased with CAPA’s focus on public sector related activities, in particular the staging of a high-level invitation-only regional forum jointly staged with the World Bank. “A most pleasing aspect of the forum was that it was attended by over 200 representatives from the public sector, accountancy profession and development partners, spread widely and evenly over some 30 countries,” Brian commented. “The support of the World Bank was instrumental in being able to attract the ‘right’ persons to the event,” he added.

CAPA will enter 2017 with certain PAO development projects and activities underway, whilst seeking to embark on new exciting initiatives. To read more about CAPA’s activities and achievements, download a copy of the 2016 annual report (in PDF version) at this section: About Us > Annual Reports .
